Stanford researchers uncovered that in rare individuals, mRNA vaccination can trigger certain immune cells to overproduce CXCL10, a signaling molecule that draws in and activates T cells. Those T cells then release excess interferon-gamma, amplifying inflammation in heart tissue and, in a small number of cases, tipping the balance toward myocarditis.
