But there is an important problem with the way this story is being presented.

The underlying tragedy appears to refer to a real case from Anápolis, Goiás, Brazil, reported in July 2018 — not a newly occurring death in 2026. Contemporary Brazilian reports described the death of a two-month-old baby after the father reportedly fell asleep while holding the infant on a sofa. The case was investigated by authorities at the time.

That distinction is extremely important.

What Actually Happened?

According to reports published in Brazil on July 3–4, 2018, a two-month-old baby died in the Jardim das Américas 2ª Etapa neighborhood of Anápolis.

The reports stated that the baby was with his father during the early hours of July 2, 2018. According to the account given to authorities, the father had been holding the infant while sitting on a sofa and fell asleep.

Emergency medical personnel were called to the residence, but the infant was already dead when they arrived. The case was then referred to the authorities for investigation.
