Russia warns it will bring about the ‘end of the world’ if Trump…See more

MOSCOW / WASHINGTON — Senior Russian officials, led by former President and Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev, have issued severe warnings regarding escalations in U.S. foreign policy under President Donald Trump, warning that drastic moves could trigger a global catastrophe and spark a wider nuclear conflict.

Escalation Over Arctic and Greenland Strategy

The rhetoric intensified following renewed tensions surrounding the Arctic region. After discussions re-emerged regarding potential U.S. territorial moves in Greenland and expanded military presence in the Arctic, Russian security officials warned that any unilateral action disrupting the strategic equilibrium would be met with maximum resistance.

Russian representatives stated that pushing for control over Arctic territories risks turning the far north into a major theater for a global military confrontation, warning that such moves could represent the "beginning of the end of the world" if nuclear deterrence mechanisms fail. European allies, including Denmark and Poland, have expressed deep concern, noting that intra-NATO conflicts over Arctic sovereignty would shatter Western security foundations.

Friction Over Middle East Interventions and Missile Treaties

The warnings follow earlier spats where Moscow criticized expanding U.S. military operations in the Middle East and the dismantling of security agreements.

  • Direct Warnings: Russian leaders characterized aggressive policy shifts as "playing with fire" and warned against attempts to pressure Moscow or its allies through military posturing.

  • Nuclear Deterrence: Following Russia's withdrawal from intermediate-range missile agreements, Russian leadership emphasized that any direct confrontation with major powers carries an inevitable risk of escalating into a World War III scenario.

While Washington maintains that its initiatives aim to protect national security interests and counter growing Russian and Chinese influence in key regions, Moscow continues to assert that aggressive unilateral actions put the global security architecture at unprecedented risk.
